As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to put a damper on the tourism industry, many hotel establishments around the country are finding it harder to stay open. Over in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, the Sheridan Beach Resort and Spa announced that it permanently closed its doors to the public, effective March 20.

First established in 2010, the 95-room luxury beach resort is located along Sabang Beach and lies about 20 minutes away by boat from the Puerto Princesa Underground River.

A proud champion for the environment, the Sheridan Beach Resort was also one of the first green resorts in the country, using wind and solar power as its primary source of energy. The hotel also boasted of its own rainwater harvesting system, a technology that stores and collects rain water for human use.

On their Facebook page, the management expressed its gratitude to all the guests, patrons, and staff that have supported them over the years.

“The future is bright in Sabang. There's no question that better opportunities still lie in wait for this small patch of paradise,” they said in an official statement. “Palawan beckons and people will continue to come.”

On March 01, Puerto Princesa reopened its borders to domestic tourists, nearly a year after the pandemic hit.
